“When Belinda first approached me to be involved in this project it was at a time when I was deciding whether to go ahead and perform a one man show idea that my brother Stephen offered me to do. It would be about my life so far and all the people who helped shape it. Meeting with Belinda was part of a reality check for me. I had to hurdle whatever fears that I have fuelled over the years and go ahead and put myself out there in any form of art no matter what. I am an artist with so many experiences and I have a story to tell. Well since then I decided to go ahead and do the one man show which has been very successful. And obviously I ended up agreeing to do the photo shoot with Belinda. Belinda captured in this photo what was going on with my life at that time. The decision was whether I revisit my life or not and ask myself the questions who am I: do I truly believe in me and am I on the right road. As a 44 year old Aboriginal man living in the city I have I learnt from my life experiences up until now. I have learnt how to keep a wise emotional balance and share it with someone special. To have the strength to face my fears and what life has to offer or challenge me in the future. Yes I am happy with who I am. I believe in me and most importantly I have learnt is to listen to my heart and inner spirit and try not to murder it. I’ve come along way, but still, I have a long way to go.”
